Bellevue Park aims to produce the highest quality, well-nourished wool in the most sustainable and ethical way possible.
We breed beautiful Saxon Merino sheep, a breed with more than three hundred years of history, to produce superfine and ultrafine fleece at a micron of 16.8 and lower. This is what puts our yarn firmly in the ultrafine category: fine enough for next-to-skin wear, soft enough for a newborn.
Saxons are a robust sheep with a natural resistance to pests and disease, and a high level of lanolin in the wool that helps to repel dust and dirt. This means the farm produces more kilograms of better quality fleece per head, which reduces the number of stock per acre and, with it, the lasting impact on the land.

A finer micron count specially selected and tested for comfort factor means a softer, gentler yarn against the skin.
At 16.8 micron and lower, our wool is suited to shawls, baby knits and any project worn close to the body, while the natural elasticity of Merino gives your finished knitted, crocheted or woven piece more give, more drape and the lasting ability to hold its shape.
